Susan Davidoff (American, b. 1953)
Davidoff lives and works in El Paso, Texas, and explores themes of structure and perception in the natural world. She frequently takes inspiration from the Chinese concept of “Li”, meaning the organic patterns found in nature, and also by her frequent nature walks and hikes. Often she uses organic materials such as moss, clay, cochineal, earth, and lichen that she collects in her desert home, which creates a physical connection between her personal experience and her finished works. She teaches at the University of Texas, El Paso and is a frequent printer for the artist John Buck. Her work is in numerous museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Museum of Women in the Arts, New Mexico State University, Amarillo Art Center, and others.Available Works
